3M Demos Easy Cleaver, New Fiber-to-the-Antenna Solution

Steve King, Application Engineer at 3M Company, demos two new products being showcased at this years's CTIA Super Mobility Week:

* The tool-less fiber optic connector

* The Easy Cleaver, which comes with every box of 3M connectors.
This will allow tower hands to make a fiber connection at the tower site in three easy steps:
1. Open and insert fiber, lock it down
2. Close down the cleaving element
3. Acctuate the cleave, the release. The shard is captured and can be disposed of. Then release the fiber. It is now cleaved to precise length.

Once those steps are done you can take the barrel off the connector and slide it onto the jacket of the fiber, pushing the fiber in until it bows. It will then connect with the pre-polished stub. Take the dust cap, actuate the splice, then you have fiber connection.
