Google is looking for partners in the automotive industry to start commercially manufacturing the Mountain View, Calif.-based company’s self-driving car. The car uses 64 lasers to conduct 360-degree scans, along with a camera and a GPS map to generate data. Software systems allow the car to react to constantly changing road and traffic conditions.

RCR Wireless News Editor-in-Chief Dan Meyer takes a look back at major telecom stories from 2014. He also provides an update on the dispute between T-Mobile and the federal government regarding bill cramming.

Meyer updates the ongoing Federal Communication Commission’s broadband spectrum auction, which has topped $34 billion in potential winning bids.

Vodafone and advertising firm JCDecaux are partnering to deploy small cells in a number of European and global markets following the success of a pilot program that planted small cells on 160 bus benches in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Networking giant Ericsson has partnered with Telefonica Peru to connect health care centers, schools and other government facilities in the rural Peruvian Amazon to a 4G LTE network. The partnership is designed to foster economic development in the area.
